About 'A Brush With Spirit'

All paintings on this website are by Liz Ridley, a new artist living in the north-east of England.

"I am fascinated by colour and the effect it can have on mood.  Having little formal training, I paint completely intuitively, beginning with a vague idea of what I might produce, but usually being totally suprised by the result.

"I believe that beauty has a powerful uplifting effect, and that nature plays an important part in all our lives.  It is our lack of contact with nature that can create a sense of hollowness, of  being disconnected.

"Having contact with nature can restore our sense of spirituality, and it is this that I aim to portray in my paintings."
